2003 Symposium - Using Wage Records in Workforce Investment
New Tools for a New Era! 2003 Symposium on Using Wage Records in Workforce Investment
About the Symposium
The rapidly changing economy and demands for accountability are increasing the pressure on businesses, workforce development programs, and public policy officials for clear decision making. Understanding the dynamic nature of the labor market - how and where jobs are created and lost, how workers enter and leave employment, how individuals progress in earnings - is more important than ever before.
Many states and policy researchers are using unemployment insurance wage records to provide new insight into the dynamic labor market and to provide more comprehensive measures of program effectiveness. Especially when linked with other administrative data sets, wage records are a powerful tool for addressing a wide range of business information needs and public policy concerns.
The Symposium on Using Administrative Records to Fill the Information Gap, sponsored by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Workforce Information Council, will examine these exciting new developments.
